Representation of the Amon Temple at Jebel Barkal (Napata)
18" 24" Pencil, ink, and water color and pencil.

This work is a reconstruction attempt of the Amon Temple at Jebel Barkal. Depicted as approaching the temple is a procession of priests carrying a barque followed by a musical band. The procession represents a traditional Kushite festival held in honor of the God Amon. Traditionally, the deity object was placed inside a small canopy constructed on top of a barque as shown in the drawing. A small crowd gathers around the procession; some are depicted cheering with palm leaves.
